Goodbye Sylvan
I gave my two weeks notice at Sylvan last Wednesday. I'm excited about it. I am going to miss some of my favourite kids though. One of them had his last night, last night though, so atleast I got to be there for that. My other favourite, who also is really hard to teach, but we have a connection, I told last night that next Weds will be my last night. He's disappointed, he hasn't had any of the other teachers since Aug. Our connection is that he has a nephew, so we talk about our 'kids'. He talks about his nephew, and I talk about my nieces. :) And my new nephew, who's due on my student's birthday. Maybe, we're not 100% sure of the due date.
So ya, I've given my notice, I have one Sat left, and one Weds. I told them Sat would be my last day on my notice, but they asked me to stay for another week because they don't have enough teachers that teach higher up math. I usually don't get beyond grade 7 or 8 math at Sylvan, which isn't very high to me, I tutor someone doing 1st year stats at mac, but to some of the other teachers it is. Now if you asked me to teach writing, well then, that would not be good. I'm definitely a math teacher.
So ya, I worked at Sylvan for a little over two years. I learned to teach reading there, so that was cool. And I learned a bunch about teaching math to elementary kids and using manipulatives to teach it. So I did learn a lot there.

Life is Busy
I haven't been updating much lately, but that's because I have a lot less free time than I used to. Let's see what have I done in the past week. I'll start with last Friday. So last Friday I worked during the day at MacNab, and in the evening I went out with Matt, Christy, LA, Maeghan and Matt's friends John and Derek and played pool. Then everyone but Matt's two friends went back to LA and Megz and talked. So I got home pretty late.
Then on Sat morning I worked at Sylvan and then went to Joshua's birthday party. Mad Science was there and I got to make a bouncy ball. :) My dad was super sweet and drove me to work, and then picked me up after and drove me to the party. Sat night I rented some movies and worked on PowerPoint for church. I think I made 3 or 4 new songs.
Sunday morning I went to my dad's church in Etobicoke and then went out for lunch with my dad, my brother, my sister-in-law, my niece and my sister-in-law's dad and step mom. They were all at church, and then after lunch we went back to the church for a benefit concert for fundraising for the renovations they did at the church. Then I came back and went straight to church and did PowerPoint at the Alt.
Monday I worked at MacNab in the afternoon and then came home, helped my dad clean the shed a bit (I swept a bit), had some dinner, then went to JAM and then went to Nick and Rachael's.
Tuesday was Halloween so I went to school dressed as a fairy princess. Oh ya, on Monday I stopped at Dollerama on my way to school and bought my wings and crown and wand. And after that I stopped at Shopper's and bought a bus pass for Novemeber and Life Saver suckers for my class. So after school I changed out of my costume and went down to Mac to tutor for two hours. Then I came home and watched ended up watching tv instead of marking tests. I watched movie, and Matt came over to return my parents' walkie talkies and ended up watching tv with me. :) I was on dog duty when kids came to the door. Bailey was over and she doesn't like strangers. Oh and we ordered pizza from Pizza Hut and they ran out of larges so they sent us 3 mediums and a small instead of the 2 larges we had ordered. But we had asked for two veggie lovers, but with one with half no tomatoe and with pineapple. But all three of the mediums had pineapple, which was what I had wanted, and so they gave my mom a credit for $25. Pretty nice since the pizza was $30.
So on Wednesday, which was yesterday, since I hadn't marked on Tuesday night, I went into school early so I could get some marking done. It was a short day, so the classes were only 33 min and all over by 11:30. Then we had a staff meeting all afternoon. Then I took the bus downtown, dropped off my pay sheet at the board, and my contract. Oh they spelt my last name wrong on my contract. They added an s. I can understand people making mistakes on some stuff, and it's just annoying, but to make a mistake on my contract, that made me very annoyed. So after dropping that stuff off I went and worked at Sylvan. On my way home I almost missed my second bus, but the bus driver saw me and waited. Thank you God! The next bus would have been half an hour later and the one that only goes to Stonechurch. So it was very nice that I caught it.
I have to leave for school soon, and tonight I'm going to visit Allison. Yay! Oh ya, I got to see Emma on Tuesday night. She came over with her costume on. Very cute.
Tomorrow night I'm babysitting Joshua, and on Sat morning I'm working at Sylvan. Sunday will be church, and my week will start over again. So life is busy, but good. I'll need to figure out some time to do some laundry. :)
